The EcoGreenGroup is an organization comprised of business and technical professionals that come from a rich diversity of professions and industries that share a keen interest in making positive contributions to sustainable technologies, industries and practices in the local and global community. The EcoGreenGroup’s core competency is the diversity of the organization and the ability to span the scope of the sustainability landscape.


The EcoGreenGroup surveys the print, electronic media, seminars, webinars, workshops, forums, and technical meetings throughout the greater SF Bay Area, then distills the relevant and timely information affecting the local community and disseminates the information through the website. This information includes sustainability awareness, events, entrepreneurial opportunities, professional development, new policy/legislation and technical advances. The EcoGreenGroup also hosts weekly, monthly and quarterly events that bring together the local community, technology, academic and business leaders for mutually beneficial exchanges of ideas and information while leveraging business connections.

 

Eco Green Group (EGG) of Silicon Valley is a Special Interest Group (SIG) of CSIX, a non-profit organization made up of over 5,000 professionals from a wide variety of business and technology fields represented in Silicon Valley.

Founder and Executive Director

John Swan


John.SwanJohn has been working for many years to proactively identify and promote real-world applications of Sustainability and GreenTechnology to make a major difference for society.


Now is the perfect time to go sustainable for very pragmatic economic reasons. A perfect storm of negative forces has created the sustainable window of opportunity.

With experience in the energy generation field, high-technology and downtown revitalization, John brings a unique perspective on how we can become more sustainable as a region. He also has over 15 years of relevant public and private experience to help the group strategically align with the public and private sectors.

John is currently on the Board of Directors of the 2010 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This fair, started in the 1950’s, as a response to the USSR space program, is now the “Olympic” equivalent to science fairs. The mission of the 2010 fair is to reposition the U.S. to compete more effectively in the technological and science fields.

John was Co-founder of a public-private consortium with the U.S. Department of Commerce to expand international high technology businesses. This consortium was the international initiative of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley.

He was a Founding member of the Bullis Charter School, the number one charter school in the state of California. This public/private endeavor is helping reinvent public education in the K-6 levels.

He represented the large Japanese Trading Company, Mitsui & Co in many high tech joint ventures between the US and Asian companies.

Mr. Swan has held board seats on the San Jose State University Foundation, NASA Ames Technology Commercialization Center, Intel 2010 International Science and Engineering Fair, and the Cupertino National Bank and Trust Advisory Board.

 

 


Founder and Executive Director

Stephen DÁndrea

Stephen has over fifteen years experience in technology sales, marketing and business development. He has an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University and experience in technology startups as well as non-profits promoting education and the arts. He co-founded Eco Green Group in April 2009 to network with others seeking to learn about renewable energy and sustainability issues. He volunteers with CleanTechOpen and FountainBlue and is an active member of Green Town Los Altos.

Jennie Bader


jennie_2Jennie has over ten years of project management and technical consulting in the telecommunications and networking industries, specializing in enterprise software solutions for wireless, infrastructure, conferencing, contact center and VoIP UC Communications solutions. With a MS in Telecommunications Management, she has worked for well-known companies as ALLTEL, Williams Communications, NexusIS (a Cisco Gold partner, Aspect, IBM Rolm, a Siemens Company, startup LiteScape Technologies and had the entrepreneurial spirit to found JetSun Technology – streaming media to mobile devices. She has the passion and enthusiasm to work with teams to build a common goal and looks forward to working in the smart grid area and making The Eco Green Group a success. She lives in Saratoga with her husband and two children.

 

Technology Director

Henry Perez

 

Henry is the Director of Technology at the EcoGreen Group.  His responsibilities include developing the Technology Roadmaps, defining the theme and content for the forums, the information architecture, and the structure and content for the website. He also Performs technical assessments, writes and publishes technical summaries in six key sustainability areas for website. Prior to joining the EcoGreen Group, Henry served as Director of Engineering at Western Digital and Seagate Technology.  At Agilent Technologies, Henry was Operating Manager within the Global Infrastructure Organization.  Henry started his career at IBM’s General Products Division designing hard disk drives and capital equipment. Henry earned a BSME degree from Cal Poly and an MSME from UC Berkeley.

Liz Valdez

Liz is a Project Management Professional (PMP) with a background in software engineering and in telecommunications project and program management. She is a 2008 graduate of the Community Leadership San Jose program, and currently the Vice President as well as Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee for the San Jose Leadership Council. Liz is pursuing sustainability with a passion. She is an accredited LEED GA (Green Associate), and is exploring careers in the area of Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in the built commercial world. Liz holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wyoming. Liz has many hobbies including gardening, knitting, and playing traditional Mexican folk music.

Web Technology Chair

Edward Leung

EdwardLeung8x10Edward has over ten years of development experience in the networking/ web software industries.  He has held leading positions from several high tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Cisco Systems and FORE Systems.  Edward has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Boston University and advanced studies in computer networking from Stanford University.

Edward has the passion to work with Eco Green and Cloud Computing technologies.   He believes the U.S. can utilize the Smart Grid technology to better manage the energy resources and use the SaaS, PaaS and IaaS technologies to better leverage the networking and computing resource needs.

Edward is instrumental in setting up the E.G.G. web site and bringing web capabilities to the Eco Green Group community.

Marilyn Loomis

marilynwebjpgMarilyn Loomis is a software engineer specializing in graphical user interfaces for 15+ years. She holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Most recently she worked at KLA-Tencor delivering yield management software solutions for 12 years.
Marilyn is passionate about making a difference to help our society move towards a more sustainable future. Marilyn is seeking new opportunities to use her software skills in the smart grid, building automation, and solar industries. She is currently enhancing her skills to meet the demands of online software solutions. Marilyn is currently studying to be a web design specialist at San Jose Computer Academy.

 

Continuing Education Chair

Jerry Jackson

 

jerry-pixJerry Jackson has been Technical Trainer for over 10 years, delivering  network security and storage management training  to customers, partners, internal system engineers and consultants.

 

Prior to Symantec/VERITAS, Jerry held several corporate and governmental positions, most recently for Seagate, Inc., as a systems administrator, and in the Seattle area with Motorola as a contractor implementing GTE wireless.  Jerry has also held positions in California as a system administrator for SAIC in San Diego, and for ATI as software engineer on Marine Corps situational simulations at NOSC in Point Loma. Before his work with corporations, Jerry was a computer technician for Naval Training Command, Pacific, and began his computer career as a Data Systems technician in the U.S. Navy.

 

Jerry holds a Masters’ degree in Software Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s in Computer Science from National University. He is a software engineer by training and a trainer by choice.

 

Jerry enjoys movies, computers and digital photography.  He lives with his family in San Jose, CA.
