Stanford Class - Clean Energy / Market and Investment Opportunities PDF Print E-mail
Written by Guna Cemballi
Tony Seba's "Clean Energy - Market and Investment Opportunities" course in 2009 fall at Stanford was one of the best courses I have taken. A big take away from the course was the clean energy market opportunity, especially solar energy-related applications such as utility-scale solar, industrial, island-scale, village-scale, commercial, and residential solar. I would recommend others to take this course to be offered this fall 2010 at Stanford. Tony is a lecturer in entrepreneurship and clean tech at Stanford University.

Tony has also written a Solar Trillions book that includes everything covered in the course and beyond. For those who can't wait for fall 2010 to take his course, I suggest checking out his book, "Solar Trillions - 7 Market and Investment Opportunities in the Emerging Clean-Energy Economy"

Green and Sustainability Certifications PDF Print E-mail

Continuing Education will provide information on certification/training courses for Green and Sustainability Professionals.  It also provides training and educational trends in Green and Sustainability.

Green:  Recent political groups have taken on the color as symbol of environmental protection and social justice, and consider themselves part of the Green movement, some naming themselves Green parties. This has led to similar campaigns in advertising, as companies have sold green, or environmentally friendly, products.

Sustainability:  The word 'sustainability' has become a wide-ranging term that can be applied to almost every facet of life on Earth, from a local to a global scale and over various time periods. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems. Invisible chemical cycles redistribute water, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon through the world's living and non-living systems, and have sustained life for millions of years. As the earth’s human population has increased, natural ecosystems have declined and changes in the balance of natural cycles has had a negative impact on both humans and other living systems.

EGG’s mission is to inform education and facilitate co-operation between individuals, companies and governments with the emphasis on Silicon Valley contributions.

Here are some organizations offering certifications:

The Green Tech Academy provides training and instruction in clean technologies such as biofuels, clean tech consulting, green building and sustainability practices to meet the increasing market and workforce demands for sustainable energy sources and to produce qualified individuals who possess the skills necessary to fulfill the needs of the clean tech industry.

NAHB National Green Building Program offers The Certified Green Professional designation is another way building professionals can become educated in, and involved with green building.
