2010 Sustainability Forum Series PDF Print E-mail
Written by Jennie Bader

The Eco Green Group (EGG) is proud to announce the 2010 Quarterly Sustainability Forum Series, “Creating Opportunities, Producing Results” and monthly speaker meetings. We create the opportunities for sustainable communities, both in the private and public sectors to collaborate, educate and network within the green industry.

We have created a roadmap that builds upon the basics of Sustainability Practices, development of alternative energy and management systems, utilization of technology to and from work and then, integrating these strategies to create sustainable communities for the future.

We invite interested speakers and exhibitors/sponsors to support the events or projects/initiatives.  Submit requests or inquiries for any events to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Technological Relic or the Future of Solar Power? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Igor Makasyuk

The Arizona-based Stirling Energy Systems (SES) is about to deploy the 1.5 megawatt demonstration site, known as Maricopa Solar; it is set to begin operations early January 2010. The solar module - the SunCatcher - looks like a well-known concentrator but includes a Sterling engine as the power producing unit. Introduced in 1816, the Sterling engine has efficiency theoretically approaching that of the most efficient Carnot cycle. However, such features as the external source of heat and many moving parts have made it notoriously unpractical. Can these features make it one of the most attractive candidates for "green" power generation? Read "Are Engines the Future of Solar Power?" by Cynthia Graber in Scientific American (December 30, 2009).
